Tennis & Golfers Elbow

Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow are both forms of tendonitis - i.e. inflammation of the tendons in the elbow.

Tennis Elbow is felt as tenderness and pain in the outside of the elbow bone and upper forearm.

The pain of golfer's elbow is usually at the elbow joint on the inside of the arm; a shooting sensation down the forearm is also common.

Tendon damage can occur after a single incident, such as lifting something very heavy, causing a tear in the tendon. But the most common cause is repeated overuse of the arm.

I usually get very good results with tennis and golfer's elbow - and in most instances I aim for a full recovery.

In my experience, tennis elbow responds quicker to acupuncture treatment than golfer's elbow does. For tennis elbow - allow 3-6 weekly treatments, while golfer's elbow generally takes twice as long to be fully effective - so allow 6-12 acupuncture treatments.
